Champagne A Fourtin Brut Rosé (Case of 6)
Producer
A Fourtin is a range of modestly-priced Champagnes from top sites in the Champagne region,...
vinified by winemakers Laurent Vaillant and Christophe Pitois.
Vineyards
The Brut Non-Vintage Rosé comprises 50% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier from the Côte des Bars and Vallée de la Marne, with 50% Chardonnay from Vertus, Nogent l’Abbesse, Vert Toulon and Graves. The vines are grown with the minimum use of chemical treatments possible.
Vinification
The grapes were pressed, as for a white wine, on entering the winery, without maceration. This gave a pale juice which was fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel vats. After fermentation, the wine was blended with 10% red wine, made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, which gave the salmon-pink colour of this Champagne and the juicy red fruit character. The blend was bottled and aged on lees for nearly 24 months before disgorgement and dosage of approximately eight grams per litre of sugar
Tasting Notes
The Brut Non-Vintage Rosé is salmon pink in colour, with fine aromas of cherry and red berry from the Pinot fruit, and the classy, refreshing palate of Chardonnay. There is a touch of brioche and toasty complexity on the palate from just under 2 years ageing. The wine finishes long, with succulent red cherry, strawberry and citrus.
