Champagne A Fourtin Brut Vintage (Case of 6)
Producer
A Fourtin is a range of modestly-priced Champagnes from top sites in the Champagne region,... vinified by winemakers Laurent Vaillant and Christophe Pitois.Vineyards
The excellent value Brut Vintage is taken from 2005 and is an equal blend of Chardonnay, which comes from Vertus, Nogent l’Abbesse, Vert Toulon and Grauves, and Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, both taken from vineyards in the Côte des Bars and Vallée de la Marne. The The vines are grown with the minimum use of chemical treatments possible.Vinification
The grapes were whole-bunch pressed directly on entry to the winery, before fermentation in temperature-controlled, stainless steel vats. After fermentation, the wine was blended and bottled, before being aged on lees for over 5 years, to give complexity of flavour and finesse. The dosage was approximately 9 grams per litre of sugar.Tasting Notes
The Brut Vintage 2005 is yellow in colour with a hint of gold. The nose shows impressive complexity with honey, almonds and a hint of cinnamon. The palate is full but fine-textured, with a persistent mousse and lingering citrus acidity balanced by red fruits as well as mellow toast and honey complexity that lasts well on the finish.| Vintage | 2005 |
