ARGENTINE Finca Los Prados, Cabernet/Malbec 2011
Producer
Our Argentinian house wines come from Bianchi’s Finca Los Prados.
Grapes are all grown on Bianchi’s own estate of 350 hectares in San Rafael, to the south of Mendoza city. The Prados wines are dual varietal, with the focus on varieties which particularly suit Mendoza’s dry, sunny climate to make a ripe, juicy style that has both elegance and freshness.
Vineyards
The grapes for this wine were partly grown on the Doña Elsa Estate, situated in Ram Caída, San Rafael, Mendoza at 750m above sea level, with the remainder sourced from growers that the Bianchi family have long standing relationships with. Rama Caída is among the coolest areas of San Rafael, with sandy calcareous soils of alluvial origin. The grapes were hand picked to ensure the delicate berry aromas were kept intact.

Vinification
The grapes were crushed before the fermentation of nearly two weeks and the extended maceration on the skins took place. The free-run juice was drained off before the remainer was pressed and racked. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks to ensure the fresh, juicy red and black fruit character was retained. The wine was lightly filtered before bottling.
Tasting Notes
A wine of intense ruby colour. The enticing berry fruit aromatics are followed by a palate that is robust, has good intensity, a velvety structure and a pleasingly complex array of flavours.
