A bright ruby colour, the bouquet opens with cherry, raspberry and the distinctive spice of Pinot Noir, with subtle undertones of oak derived vanilla. Supple and smooth in the mouth with lashings of sweet fruit, finely polished tannins and balanced acidity; this finely poised backbone with vibrant fruit flavours and varietal spice notes, gives the wine great length and focus.

This lively wine displays intense aromatics of cherry, raspberry, spice and hints of dried herbs. The palate demonstrates all the characters expected from a medium bodied Grenache: sandy, gritty tannin structure; lovely dryness on the finish; coupled with balanced sweet plum and strawberry fruit, a fantastic food wine!

The 2007 is vibrant, deep ruby in colour with purple tints. On the nose it is lifted and perfumed with a touch of peachiness coming through from the Viognier and plenty of juicy, smoky bramble fruit from the Shiraz. Well structured with smooth, ripe tannins and great depth.

Winemakers Comments Vanya has referred to the 2009 vintage as the Mozart vintage because all of the red and white wines produced in that year are in perfect harmony and balance. The quality, purity and vibrancy of the fruit produced in 2009 is exquisitely expressed in this wine. Tasting Notes Deep red with strong purple tinges. Very attractive blend of violet and red current aromas on the nose. Fresh red current flavours with a touch of plum are in perfect balance with the firm but unobtrusive tannins. Great length and persistence. An elegant yet substantial wine.

The grapes for this wine were hand harvested, destemmed and vinified with the emphasis on accentuating the fruit character of the grapes. Only wild yeasts were used. The wine was matured for twelve months in French oak barriques, 8% of which were new. It received no additives except the requisite sulphur, and was not fined.

Deep coloured and youthful on the rim, the Margaret River Red is chunky and intense, with scented mulberry fruit and a smoky, blackberry fruit character on the palate. Good length with plummy notes on the finish.
