CHILEAN Inspira Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva 2009
Producer
Inspira is made by Viña Chocalan with hand picked fruit from younger vineyards and offers great value for money.
Only the free-run juice is used to give an extremely pure, clean and round palate without any bitterness or harsh tannin. With a great natural balance, this is one of the best inexpensive Cabernet Sauvignons we’ve tasted.
Vineyards
The fruit for this wine was sourced from 11 year old vineyards located on the hillsides of the Melipilla area, in the Maipo Valley of Chile. They are planted on chalky, well drained soil. No de-leafing took place and there was a green harvest once 80% of the veraison was complete.
Vinification
Grapes for this wine were hand harvested and gently de-stemmed. A cold maceration of whole grapes followed for just under one week. The juice was fermented with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 26ºC.
Tasting Notes
Brilliant ruby red in colour, with bright aromas of fresh, ripe red fruits, raspberry, plum and a touch of blackcurrant. On the palate the wine is medium bodied with smooth tannins, good acidity and balance and a nice juicy finish.
