Calbuco Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot BEST SELLER IN OUR SHOP
Producer
With the Calbuco range, we set out with Alberto Antonini to produce a range of modern wines offering excellent value for money. We wanted to capture the vibrant fruit that characterises Chile’s best wines, but give them a bit more depth and structure...
We believe that Alberto has succeeded in doing this. Calbuco is a volcano in the Andes, as striking a symbol of Chile as its wine.
Vineyards
The vineyards are located in Chile`s Central Valley, the strip of land between the Pacific and the Andes which is the traditional heartland of Chilean vinegrowing. Soils here are very mixed with clay as well as a patchwork of loam, limestone and sand.
Vinification
The must fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to maintain freshness and maximize the juicy fruit character of the grapes. Maceration lasted about 15 days. The wine remained in tank until bottling.
Tasting Notes
The 2010 is bright purple in colour, with fragrant blackberry and dark plum notes on the nose. The palate is soft and mouthfilling, with juicy cassis, plum and blueberry flavours. It is medium bodied and fresh with supple, ripe tannins and a lasting, fruit driven finish.
